Dear Friends,
There is a quiet miracle taking place within every believer. God is continually enlarging the heart so it can hold more of His life. Capacity is not about personal strength or spiritual performance; it is a willing posture that allows the Spirit to stretch, soften, and fill the places within us that have grown tired or rigid.
When I think of capacity, I picture a balloon in the hands of a loving Father. It looks small when deflated, but the moment His breath enters it, everything changes. Scripture opens with this very image: “The Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7). God’s breath awakened Adam to communion, creativity, and spiritual awareness.
Jesus repeated this miracle after the resurrection when He breathed on His disciples and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20:22). Once again, breath became expansion, creating room for divine life to dwell within human hearts. God still works this way today. He uncovers new places within us where His life can take root and grow.
MAKING MORE ROOM
When we want to make room for something new, the first step is always the same: we clear out what no longer belongs. If you were cleaning out your refrigerator, you wouldn’t stack fresh groceries on top of spoiled food. You would remove anything moldy, expired, or unsafe because keeping it would contaminate everything else. Clearing out the old creates space for what is fresh and life‑giving.
The same principle applies spiritually. We cannot step into a renewed life while holding on to old mindsets, attitudes, and habits that have been quietly poisoning us. These may be superstitions, lies, idols, or patterns we picked up along the way—things that have shaped unhealthy behaviors and unproductive ways of living. They hinder us from experiencing the good life God intends. Scripture speaks plainly about this:
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31–32 (NLT)
In other words, throw out the rotten attitudes. How? By replacing them with God’s truth. His Word has the power to restore what is unhealthy and even toxic. It’s like a glass filled with dirty water. If you continually pour in clean water, the dark water eventually overflows and disappears until the glass is filled with pure clean water. God’s Word does this within us. Hebrews 4:12 says, For the word of God is alive and powerful. (NLT)
Proverbs reminds us how vital it is to take in God’s Word by reading, listening, meditating, and practicing it. As we continue in this manner, Scripture is powerful to flush out the old toxic mindset:
My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:20-23 (NLT)
Some people try to live God’s way while still clinging to destructive thinking such as anger, resentment, revenge, bitterness, and unforgiveness. But this kind of mindset sabotages the very life they long for. It’s like a farmer spraying poison on his own field and then wondering why nothing grows. Or like pressing the accelerator and the brake at the same time and wondering why the car won’t move forward!
Isn’t it time to rethink the way your life is going? Maybe you’ve lived a lot of life already and it’s been ok, but did you know there’s so much more to Jesus? Jesus said in John 10:10, “…I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!”
So ask yourself: What needs to be cleared out of my heart and mind today so I can make more room for God’s goodness and power?
BURNED OUT ON RELIGION?
The only thing the Lord requires of us is a LIVING interaction with Him! Isn’t that what any person would require in a relationship? Not perfect performance, but just plain HONESTY!
David told us what the Lord really requires of us in Psalm 51:6, Sincerity and truth are what you require… (GNT) Going through the outward motions is a deadly duty because it cuts us off from a living relationship with the Lord! The Holy Spirit wants to communicate with us on a Heart Level. This is where honesty and sincerity live, and a place where we will find great satisfaction and fulfillment!
HOW TO BEGIN MAKING ROOM FOR JESUS
1. Pick a quiet time and place. Choose a moment in your day when you can slow down, breathe, and be with God. Even five minutes counts. Consistency matters more than length.
2. Talk to God honestly. Clear your mind and just be present with God. I have found this verse helpful…
…Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. Matthew 6:6 (MSG)
3. Read a short passage of Scripture. Start with a translation that’s easy to understand. You can begin in the New Testament or find a Bible reading plan and start there. Read slowly. Let one verse or phrase stand out to you.
4. Think about what you read. Ask: “What is God showing me? How can I live this today?” Even one truth can shape your whole day.
5. Carry it with you. Hold onto one verse, one thought, or one reminder. Let it guide your choices, your attitude, and your treatment of others.
As you move into the week ahead, remember that God is already at work enlarging your capacity. Every small yes, every honest moment, every bit of truth you allow into your heart creates more room for His life to flourish within you. Let His breath revive what has been dormant and clear out what no longer serves you. He delights in filling the space you make for Him.

HAVE YOU BEEN BORN AGAIN?
Jesus replied, I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ John 3:5-7 (NLT)
To begin a born again life of purpose and fulfillment, all that is needed at this point is to BELIEVE and SURRENDER—believe that God is bigger than your sins as well as other people’s sins against you. He is infinitely greater than your anger, despair, pain, and misery. God is so much bigger than what man’s religion has portrayed Him to be. He can take your life, as small and insignificant as you think it is, and transform it to factory-new status. God doesn’t just make you a better person; he makes you a BRAND-NEW person!
1 Corinthians 5:17 says, This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (NLT)
When we become born again, we are no longer adrift in life, as we now have solid direction and purpose. If you want to be born anew, without putting it off another minute, you can pray the following prayer and be assured of eternal salvation. Also, attend a good church whenever possible to learn more about Jesus and spiritually grow.
PRAYER FOR SALVATION
Dear Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I accept your sacrifice on the Cross as payment for my sins. I ask you to forgive my sins, come into my heart, make me a new person, and give me eternal life. I ask that you would be my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord, for giving me newness of life! Help me now, Lord, to be honest with you, myself, and others. Create in me a clean heart and cause me to be willing to obey you in everything! Amen.
